If you weren’t locked in a basement somewhere in Cleveland for the past month, you more than likely heard about the rumored acquisition of Beats Music by Apple for about 3.2 billi. Fast forward a couple of weeks past nervous reports about Tyrese blowing the deal up on a TMZ video (prematurely calling Dre ‘Hip Hop’s first Billionaire)- the deal is now finalized for an even 3 billion. Dre and former Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine will both start new jobs at the house that Steve Jobs built, and will likely start spending that fat 2.6 billion up front cash payment.

For his part Dre seems to be warming up to his new job as an Apple exec:
(Jacked from Billboard)

Apple senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi introduced Dr. Dre as a company employee via telephone during the keynote presentation at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference. “What time should I show up for work?” asked the hip-hop producer/entrepreneur, joking that he wanted to arrive at the company’s campus in the morning before early-arriving CEO Tim Cook.

“New employee orientation starts at 9:00, and you don’t want to miss the free t-shirt,” Federighi told Dre in a tongue-in-cheek conversation. The company did not announce a job title for Dre.

Only time will tell if the Beats brand will maintain the all important ‘it’ factor that Apple has enjoyed with consumers for decades, but one thing is for certain; it’s Dre Day.
